SAEED BIN ABDULLAH HANAFI

*******************************

Saeed is one of the martyrs of Kerbala. He was a brave man, a great faithful and an ardent follower of Ahl-e-Bayt (A.S). On the night of 10th Moharram when Imam Hussain (A.S) allowed his companions to leave him in the darkness of night, the companions rose and reiterated their support to him. Saeed said,'By God, we are not going to leave you, till God knows that we have fulfilled the right of the Prophet (S.A.W) and his family. By God, if I come to know that I am killed, then made alive, then burned and this is repeated seventy times, I will not leave you till my life is sacrificed for you. Why I should not do this, when I am not going to be killed more than once after that there are endless favours from Allah.' Saeed and Hani bin Hani were the last messengers who took the letter of Imam (A.S) addressed to the Koofis. He had also brought letters from the people of Koofa to the Holy Imam (A.S). Saeed was a great revolutionary man from Koofa and played an active role in the movement of Hazrat Muslim (A.S). He took a letter from Muslim (A.S) to Imam Hussain (A.S) and then came to Kerbala with Imam Hussain (A.S). On the noon of 10th Moharram, Saeed stood in front of Imam Hussain (A.S) so he could offer his prayer. Due to the wounds of arrows, he fall on the ground and had his last breath. It is written that apart from the wounds of swords, thirteen arrows were found from his body. His name is found in 'Ziarat-e-Nahya-e-Muqaddisa' along with praise and prayer for him from the Last Imam (A.S).
